Why Do The Houses Mean What They Mean?

Have you ever run up a down escalator? It’s good fun. Maybe you’ve been in an airport with a “people mover” and went the wrong way on it (also good fun). Or one of those dreams where something or someone is chasing you and you’re running to safety and the faster you run the farther away the safe place gets and you never get there.

That is what’s happening in the chart. The signs move counter-clockwise in zodiacal order but the diurnal motion of Earth is clock-wise moving in the opposite direction. We like the approach Robert Schmidt takes so we’ll use that here.

What we present to you are the original house meanings.

The Arab and Persian astrologers were greatly confused. As teenagers, they probably broke into people’s homes and rearranged the furniture for fun. The Arabs and Persians did not understand that natal and mundane astrology were one branch and elections, inceptions and horary was a different branch separate and apart from natal/mundane astrology. They began mixing the meanings of houses in horary and election charts with natal and mundane charts.

In astrology, you cannot mix-n-match.

Think of medicine. There are many branches of medicine and two of them are orthopedics and oncology. Orthopedics deals with bones and the most common procedures is setting or mending fractured bones. Oncology deals with treating cancer.

If someone breaks a leg, would you start them on chemotherapy? Why would you do that? That is the wrong procedure. The wrong technique. The wrong method.

If you can understand that, then now you understand the difference between the mundane/natal branch of astrology and the other branch of astrology that deals with questions, inceptions, elections (the most opportune time to do something not political elections) and horary. Those charts are cast “in the moment” typically to explore an event in the near-future. In order to do that, unique concepts and special techniques and methods were developed.

Those unique concepts and special techniques and methods cannot be used in mundane/natal astrology. We will prove that to you beyond any reasonable doubt. So, yes, the Modern astrologers and all the “traditional” astrologers are doing it wrong.

Briefly, the Arabs and Persians moved:

  • the mother from the 1st House to the 10th House
  • property/real estate from the 2nd House to the 4th House
  • assets and investments from the 2nd House to the 5th House
  • business partners from the 2nd House to the 7th House
  • hidden enemies from the 6th House to the 12th House
  • lawsuits from the 8th House to the 7th House
  • government and authority from the 9th House to the 10th House
  • the spouse from the 10th House to the 7th House
  • enemies from the 12th House to the 7th House

And then everyone wonders why it’s such a struggle to accurately interpret charts.
