Step #5 Initial Interpretations of Figures and Configurations

Let’s call up the chart:

We’ll begin with the major configuration in the chart and that is Moon opposition Sun.

Okay, that’s it. We’re going to have to take a break for a few hours here.

When we said “opposition” some people went into a total tizzy freaking panic and their knee was jerking so hard it broke their nose, knocked out their teeth and busted their lip.

We’ll give those people a chance to go to the Emergency Room and have some doctors fix them all up so they’re all better.

If you can’t stop thinking in terms of the silly “hard” and “soft” aspects you’re going to be totally frustrated and not be able to accurately interpret the chart. We never knee-jerk. We never make assumptions. You don’t know that any square or opposition is bad or that any sextile or trine is good unless and until you have interpreted it.

Concepts we’ll be using:

• Natures of the stars
• Signs
• Figures & Configurations
• Left vs Right

In case you don’t already know, all figures and configurations are by signs. There are no orbs. To the extent that there might be orbs, the orb is the sign. It’s the signs that make aspects to each other. That is one of the fundamental concepts of astrology. The stars only make aspects because they happen to be in signs that make aspects.

Figure Types

As a reminder, figures come in 3 flavors:

1. Character-trait figures: Those tell you about someone’s character or intelligence level.
2. Condition-based figures: Those are conditions — good or bad — affecting a person for a specific time period that often manifest as events.
3. Event-based figures: Those always manifest as 1 to 12 events in a person’s life.

To illustrate the concept, let’s look briefly at the chart of Elliott Gould:

At first glance the chart appears problematic since there is no domicile master for the Pisces 10th House. Look again. Where does the MC Point fall? In the 9th House making the 3rd and 9th Houses quasi-angles. We blend the 9th and 10th Houses and the 3rd and 4th Houses together. Actually, the chart looks like this:

The figure we’re examining is Jupiter right sextile Saturn, a condition-based figure. What does it mean?

You can’t use the interpretations from the CRAMP astrologers, especially Modern astrologers because they’re all wrong. You must use the original house meanings only if you want to accurately interpret a chart and Modern astrologers can’t even agree on what houses mean.

We get this gem from the goofy Catherine Grant: “Social aspirations, friends, counselors, companions, attitude towards others and ability to make and maintain friendships; rules ankles, lower legs, circulation of blood; succèdent; co-significator Capricorn. Natural house of Uranus. Ancient diurnal house of Saturn.”

And this from the rude Dane Rudhyar: “Power of society, the collective, or the group which is released through the individual and the activities they perform within the social unit—nation, class, church, club, profession—to which the native belongs.”

Those are 100% wrong.

We’re taking career and social rank from the 10th House and combining it with authority from government and authority in the 9th House along with wisdom and learning from the 9th House and pointing it at the 11th House which is patronage, alliances, associations and entities. Elliott Gould was more than an actor. He was a film producer. We get that isn’t obvious from looking at the chart but this is a beginner level delineation and figuring out someone’s occupation is quite complex.

Ask 1,000 different Modern astrologers and you’ll get 1,000 different interpretations for Jupiter sextile Saturn. The good news is we don’t have to worry about that because Jupiter right sextile Saturn (slightly different than Saturn right sextile Jupiter) means the same today as it did 2,600 years ago and it will mean the same thing 2,600 years from now. Saturn rejects or restrains those things that would interfere with Jupiter’s ability to affirm and stabilize. For that reason, Jupiter right sextile (or trine) Saturn means financial success and good fortune.

It means that in every chart. The only difference between charts is how it reveals itself in a person’s life which is going to be based on the signs and houses that Jupiter and Saturn occupy, plus any stars forming figures to them. In this chart, Saturn is also in a right trine to Mars and Moon and Venus right trine Jupiter (all positive). The problem here is both Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde.

Retrograde means that someone (not necessarily you) or some thing will suffer a serious set-back, major reversal of fortune or circumstance, or be rejected, denied, thwarted, or frustrated, or be ruined or destroyed, or things fall apart. It means that 100% of the time in 100% of charts no exceptions ever.

Retrograde is not a condition that affects you on a daily or monthly or even a yearly basis. It only comes into play when the aspect is activated by a primary predictive method which will never be transit-to-natal since transit-to-natal was never a predictive method. The fact that ignorant uninformed people used transit-to-natal as a predictive method (and failed 90% of the time) does not make it a predictive method. It just means people were ignorant and uninformed.

You’ll notice Jupiter and Saturn are in fire and air signs and we’ll address what that means shortly.

As a film producer, Gould relied heavily on patronage, plus his alliances and associations to produce films. Patrons put up the seed money, hence patronage. Gould purchased the rights to several stories and books. Sometimes, those projects never got off the ground or development and production started (in one case filming started) and then fell apart. Why? What does retrograde mean?

Retrograde means that someone (not necessarily you) or some thing will suffer a serious set-back, major reversal of fortune or circumstance, or be rejected, denied, thwarted, or frustrated, or be ruined or destroyed, or things fall apart. It means that 100% of the time in 100% of charts no exceptions ever.

Some of the films he produced that were released were panned by critics and flopped at the box office or the critics gave the film a warm review but it still flopped and sometimes the critics panned it but it was marginally profitable. Why? What does retrograde mean?

Retrograde means that someone (not necessarily you) or some thing will suffer a serious set-back, major reversal of fortune or circumstance, or be rejected, denied, thwarted, or frustrated, or be ruined or destroyed, or things fall apart. It means that 100% of the time in 100% of charts no exceptions ever.

But he did produce several films that were critical and commercial successes. Like Star Wars? No, not like Star Wars, but investors got their money back, the studio got its money back, everybody got paid, and there was enough money left over to spread the love around. Why? Are Jupiter and Saturn retrograde in transit charts every time that Jupiter right sextile Saturn aspect is activated? Nope. We should probably point out that by “transit charts” we mean solar return charts, secondary progressed charts, lunation charts and actual transits charts because that’s what it meant to the Greeks.

We’re trying to impress upon you the absolute requirement that a chart be interpreted in its entirety before attempting to make predictions. Let’s move on.

Active Signs vs Passive Signs

The nature of Moon is to gather or change. That of Sun is to select or elevate. For those reasons a Moon-Sun opposition indicates change. We always list the faster star first in an opposition.

The Moon-Sun opposition is on what axis? The 11th/5th Axis. What are the 11th and 5th Houses? The 11th House is the House of Good Fate and the 5th House is the House of Random Chance Gook Luck.

Lookie there! You’re already halfway done.

See those little frilly things around the chart? Those are signs. They’re not there for decoration to make the chart look all pretty and stuff. We actually use them. You need to use them, too.

Moon is in the Aries 11th House and Sun is in the Libra 5th House. Aries and Libra are tropical signs. Solid or fixed signs usually indicate “one.” The double-bodied signs and the bicorporal signs (not the same thing) typically indicate “two” or “three.” The tropical signs tell us anywhere from 3 to 12 times. We’ve seen one aspect play out as many as 12 times in a person’s chart. Each time was effectively a “variation on a theme” but always with the same sour results because that was the nature of that aspect.

What else can you say about Aries and Libra? They’re diurnal signs. That isn’t very helpful. They’re masculine signs? Yeah, but that isn’t very helpful, either. We like active signs. Active signs indicate things that come about quickly, sometimes abruptly and they last only a few years (see the Jupiter right sextile Saturn figure in Elliott Gould’s chart above). Kamala got her Juris Doctorate in 1989. We don’t know this for a fact but we’ll say she got admitted to the bar and her first job in 1990 just for easy math. 1990 to 2020 is 30 years and in that 30 years Kamala was:

1. An assistant prosecutor
2. State board appointee
3. County prosecutor
4. State attorney general
5. U.S. Senator
6. Vice-President

Well, actually she wasn’t sworn in as vice-president until 2021, so we’ll say 5 jobs in 30 years for an average of 6 years on the job.

Active signs. Get it?

Let’s take a gander at John Glenn’s chart:

Mercury, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn in earth and water signs. What are those? Nocturnal signs. Not very helpful. Feminine signs? Yes, but that’s not very helpful. We like passive signs. You’ll like them, too.

How long was John Glenn a pilot? More than 30 years before he retired. How long was he a U.S. Senator? 24 years. Passive signs indicate things a decade or longer. Active signs just a few years.

Moon opposition Sun

Back to Kamala Harris:

So the Moon-Sun opposition in her chart being on the 11th and 5th Axis and being in tropical signs and being in active signs (the “ands” are not optional) is going to produce a lot of changes in her life. Like we said, tropical can be anywhere from 3 to 12 changes in a person’s life.

What kind of changes, good or bad? Moon and Sun are not planets. They’re lights and they’re heavily dependent on other stars in aspect to them to see how they work in a chart. The wannabe astrologer only sees the Moon-Sun opposition. The entire configuration is Moon right trine Mars right sextile Sun right trine Saturn right sextile Moon opposition Sun.

If you don’t understand Left vs Right you need to learn because that is how figures are interpreted and it’s why Modern astrologers are always wrong. It is the star on the right that is attempting to push its nature onto the star on the left and its ability to do that is based on the condition of the star, the signs, and the houses they’re in. It might help to read Plato’s Philebus, Timaeus, Critias and The Republic to better understand Form & Matter as it relates to the natures of the stars.

Moon-Mars Sextiles and Trines

We’ll investigate Moon right trine Mars first. That’s the proper phrasing. Mars left trine Moon is nonsensical. We need to know which star is trying push itself onto the other star and that’s why we go with Moon right trine Mars. That, and Mars right trine Moon mean basically the same thing assuming both are in advantageous houses and the chart is nocturnal. It provides favorable outcomes, success, and good prosperity.

The difference between Mars right trine Moon and Moon right trine Mars is that with Moon right trine Mars your success comes with a price. That price is what you sacrifice.

Mars severs and separates and Moon trying to push its nature on Mars, well, think of it as Mars with swords hacking away. Let’s look quickly at Bob Fosse’s chart:

Aries 3rd House Moon right trine Leo 7th House Mars. Bob Fosse was an internationally renown choreographer, dancer, producer, director, and writer of hit Broadway musicals and plays, and also feature films. What did Fosse sacrifice to get that success? What does Moon rule in the chart?

Remember, Moon can be master of any water or earth sign and it isn’t unusual to see a chart with one star being domicile master of up to four different signs. Donald Trump has Jupiter as domicile master of his Sagittarius 5th House, Aquarius 7th House, Gemini 11th House and Cancer 12th House.

Moon is domicile ruler and master of the Cancer 6th House. Bob Fosse sacrificed his health to achieve success.

The Broadway scene is a fast crowd. It’s work and party-hardy-like-you-just-don’t-care 39 hours a day. In his 40’s, his doctor told him to slow down or he would die. Naturally, Fosse ignored his doctor’s advice. In his 50’s, his doctor told him he was dying and nothing could be done. Well, actually, something could be done. Fosse wrote and directed the film All That Jazz starring Roy Scheider and others and it’s usually on Top 100 film lists. The film is interspersed with film clips from comedian Lenny Bruce and his stand-up routine on the 5 Stages of Grief by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. 

A few years after the film was released, Fosse died at age 60.

Who is the domicile master for the Pisces 2nd House? There is none. What did we say about people whose charts have a house with no domicile master? They never live long enough to collect a social security check.

1. Whitney House: No domicile master for Pisces Ascendant (drowned in a hotel bathtub from a cocaine-induced heart attack at age 48).
2. Freddie Prince: No domicile master for the Sagittarius 2nd House. Committed suicide at age 22.
3. Bob Fosse: No domicile master for Pisces 2nd House (died of heart attack at age 60).
4. Kurt Cobain: No domicile master for Aquarius 6th House. Blew his head off with a shotgun at age 27.
5. Rajiv Gandhi: No domicile master for Aquarius 6th House. Blown up by suicide bomber at age 47.
6. Karen Carpenter: No domicile master for Pisces 9th House. Died of anorexic heart attack at age 32.
7. Gus Grissom: No domicile master for Cancer 10th House. Died in a flash-fire in Apollo 1 at age 40.

Oh, wait….we want to share something from the moronic mental midget Modern astrologers March & McEvers and what they say about Moon sextile/trine Mars: “These aspects can offset debilitating health problems, as they give great physical strength.”

How’d that work out for Bob Fosse? Modern astrology is such a spectacular fail.

Recall in Step #3 when judging the stars Moon is in a neutral state and Kamala is not wealthy and she’s certainly not as wealthy as other politicians. We also showed you that she’s not in it for the money and we said we could prove that. Now, we’re about to prove that.

What will Kamala Harris sacrifice?

Cancer is domicile ruler and master of the 2nd House which is income, real estate, investments and business partners.

Kamala was an attorney-at-law and sacrificed a lucrative career in the private sector earning 3 times, 4 times or even 5 times more than she would as an assistant prosecutor, county prosecutor or State attorney general. Additionally, her finances were limited and scrutinized because as a prosecutor, attorney general, U.S. Senator and vice-president she is privy to financial and economic info that the general public does not have access to and she has to report certain stock trades.

Was Bob Fosse’s sacrifice worth it? We don’t know. He’s dead. Lydia read a critic’s review and maybe he did come to accept his death. Was it worth it for Kamala? We don’t know, since we haven’t asked her, but we’re inclined to believe it was worth it for her.

Surely, someone will say, well, it was their choice. They have Free Will. No, astrology is a rules-based scientific study of Fate. Where your Fate is concerned you have no Free Will. Even for the 90% of your life not connected to your Fate you still don’t have Free Will. You only have the illusion of Free Will. At the end of the day, you’re nothing more than a laptop running a program waiting for input from the keyboard. You will respond to stimuli exactly as you were programmed to respond from birth to puberty.

Kamala has no Free Will.

Did you not read her chart? Do you not see Mercury as domicile ruler of the Gemini Ascendant in the 6th House occupied by Scorpio which is a servile sign?

Kamala serves like how to serve man. No, not the cook-book. Kamala is in service for a greater good. That is her nature. It is who she is and what she does. She was a public servant all of her professional life.

And you think she has the Free Will to not serve the public?

Scorpion: Hey, Froggy, will you carry me across the river?

Sun-Mars Sextiles and Trines

Mars right sextile Sun (same basic meaning as Sun right sextile Mars and the trines mean what the sextiles mean) indicates positions of power. Why? The nature of Mars is to sever or separate while the nature of Sun is to select or elevate. Sun in a right sextile or trine is preferable to Mars in a right sextile or trine since it indicates higher levels or positions of power. Again, that meaning comes from 2,000 year old texts. We don’t make things up as we go along like Modern astrologers do. This is a condition-based aspect. Since Sun is in the 5th House of random chance good luck it will present itself as events in her life.

Sun right trine Saturn (same basic meaning as Saturn right trine or sextile Sun) is an indicator of fame and high rank or position. Sun on the right is always preferable. Sun selects or elevates and Saturn rejects or restrains. Having Sun on the right increases the level of fame. This figure also indicates the parents are of high stature in some way. Kamala’s father was a highly respected professor and her mother and well-respected researcher.

We can compare that to this chart:

This is a U.S. Army field grade officer. Saturn right trine Sun does not allow for a higher rank. Saturn domiciled in the Aquarius 4th House says the parents came from humble beginnings. The father was the last-born of 11 children in Harlan County, Kentucky; the only child to not work in the coal mines; and the first to graduate high school. The mother’s family was one step above poverty level. Even so, both were highly regarded in the community. The father was an instrument mechanic at a chemical plant who retired at 65 years only to have the company come calling 8 months later begging him to come back to work. He did (for mo’ money) and retired at 70. The mother completed post-doctoral work at age 44 as a neuro-psychologist and eventually presented expert witness testimony in personal injury cases around the country.

So, Sun on the right in a sextile or trine to Saturn is preferable.

Mercury-Mars-Saturn Square-Opposition

The next configuration is Mars right square Mercury right square Saturn opposition Mars. Mars opposition Saturn tells us she’s a nervous person who is easily embarrassed. A Nervous Nelly? No. OCD or anxiety disorder nervous? No. Aquarius is a rational sign. Mercury right square Saturn tells us she exaggerates a lot and Mars right square Mercury with Mercury in the Scorpio 6th House with Mars as domicile ruler and master tells us she suffers from vicious rumors. Remember, we do not use the very wrong CRAMP astrology meanings for houses. This is not an horary chart. This is a natal chart and in a natal chart the 6th House is your hidden enemies (because they are below the Earth).

Your hidden enemies in the 6th House rarely cause physical harm but certain configurations can result in physical harm.

Mars right square Moon right square Saturn opposition Mars is a bad death or a violent death. But, Saturn right square Moon right square Mars opposition Saturn is an execution. Yes, we’re quoting an 1,800-year old text instead of making things up like Modern astrologers do. Modern astrologers would talk about lollipops, puppy dogs, rainbows and unicorns and how everyone will just love Sharon and her newborn infant.

Don’t be obtuse. Astrology has no place for obtuse people. The State is not the only entity on this Earth that executes people. For more than 1,000 years the Roman Catholic Church executed more people than all those who died in 20th Century wars (and for crimes that weren’t even real and aren’t even crimes today). Every day on this Earth someone is executed by a criminal, gang, organized crime syndicate, terror group, death squad or military, so everybody get over it already.

This is a chart where hidden 6th House enemies become 12th House enemies and do harm.

You must apply the rules of astrology to read the chart correctly. Jupiter is merely the domicile ruler of the Sagittarius 6th House. It is Sun as domicile master of the Sagittarius 6th House being in the 8th House that tells the rest of the story.

Like we said, astrology is the original WYSIWYG.

We’ll wait patiently for someone to explain how Sharon Tate’s liberal application of Free Will could have prevented the Manson Gang from coming into her home, lining everyone up, and then stabbing them to death (and then hanging them after that). Well, Abigail Folger ran away but they chased her down and murdered her.

Anyway, aside from obvious exceptions like Sharon Tate’s chart, it’s rare for hidden enemies to cause physical harm. They’re a nuisance to be sure and they can harm your career or reputation, interfere with your marriage or other relationships, but, again, it’s rare they cause physical harm.

Jupiter-Venus-Mercury Configuration

To understand the Jupiter right trine Venus right sextile Mercury opposition Jupiter configuration, it might be helpful to compare it with John Lennon.

Mercury’s nature is to argue or destabilize while Jupiter’s nature is to affirm or stabilize. For that reason (and a few others) Mercury opposition Jupiter means inflammatory rhetoric. That’s our baseline.

We need to modify that based on other chart conditions. See those little frilly things around the chart? Those are called “signs.” Please use them.

Is the Mercury-Jupiter opposition in fire-air signs? No. In a violent human sign like Libra, the inflammatory rhetoric can rise to the level of vitriolic diatribe and may even include hate speech.

The Mercury-Jupiter opposition occurs in passive signs so just rhetoric. After all, Kamala was an attorney. But isn’t Scorpio a violent sign? Yes, it is. John’s lyrics for his songs were barbed, pointed, just like the stinger on a scorpion. They were provocative. A couple of his songs were banned by different countries for different reasons as “offensive” or “insulting” and many in American misconstrued his songs. Kamala is an attorney and it isn’t unusual to take a jab at opposing counsel, especially if they’re citing a case that is not even remotely on point (no pun intended) when writing a reply to a legal brief.

There is, of course, one glaring difference between these configurations and that is John has Saturn co-present with Jupiter. Here’s where things like “strong” and “weak” and “possibilities” and “potentials” lead you astray and give wrong interpretations. Think of it this way:

• Co-presence as being pregnant
• Concourse (two or more stars within 15° in the same sign) as being 3 months pregnant
• Engagement Jupiter applying to Saturn within 3° as being 6 months pregnant
• Jupiter and Saturn precisely joined as being 9 months pregnant

So, 6 months pregnant is “stronger?” Don’t be silly. It’s a simple question, are Jupiter and Saturn in the same sign or aren’t they? If they are they’re co-present then effect exists whether you want it to or not and whether you like it or not. When in concourse the effect is more pronounced or prominent. When engaged, Jupiter is afflicted by Saturn and the effect is more pronounced and even more so since they’re in the same degree. A question remains whether Jupiter is still afflicted by Saturn even when joined in the same degree. We can’t use this chart because Venus as domicile ruler and master of the Taurus 2nd House being in the 6th House counteracts the poor placement of Jupiter and Saturn afflicting them. Venus is also afflicted since the poor placement of Mercury in the 8th House doesn’t counteract the bad placement of Venus in the 6th House.

In case you’re wondering, Mars in the 7th House is the domicile ruler of Scorpio but Moon is the domicile master since the other water trigon ruler Jupiter is in an inferior house.

What Saturn imparts on Jupiter is structure and organization which is why John is a musician and Kamala is not. Music, whether song lyrics or the musical score itself, is very structured.

Venus configured to the Mercury-Jupiter opposition adds writing to speech. Now, this is beyond basic level astrology but Mercury in the bounds of Venus gives the writing and speech a certain style and flair. In John’s chart, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn are in the bounds of Mercury and more than that, Mercury aspects his bounds in Virgo and Taurus. Effectively, the bounds are like a “mini-House” with Mercury in charge.

You can contrast that with Kamala’s chart where Venus, Mercury and Jupiter are all in different bounds (meaning they’re not working together). Kamala was a decent writer but when it comes to public speaking, you have to put a muzzle on her. If she isn’t reading from a script or from a teleprompter she goes way off the reservation. When you say something that simultaneously angers the moderates and the extremists in your political party you’re doing something wrong.

Saturn right square Jupiter

And now we come to the main event:

As you’ll come to learn, there’s a huge difference between left squares and right squares.

Jupiter right square Saturn is a most splendid square. It’s the envy of every person. If only they could have Jupiter right square Saturn in their chart their lives would be just peachy.

Sadly, what you’re looking at in the charts of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is Saturn right square Jupiter which is a most nasty square.

If anyone is offended by the fact that we’re using a 2,000 year old text instead of making up soothsaying nonsense liked Modern astrologers do let them pluck out their eyes. According to our 2,000 year old texts we have 4 choices:

1. Failure(s)
2. Demotion, loss of position, or loss of power
3. Loss of income, property or assets
4. A disturbing event

We’ll start with Donald Trump. Saturn is in Cancer. Cancer is a sign of peace. Yeah, Pluto in Cancer causes world wars. Those must have been some really good psilocybin magic mushrooms. The point is, we can rule out the “disturbing event.” Bloop.

What do Jupiter or Saturn have to do with Trump’s Leo 1st House or Taurus 10th House? Absolutely freaking nothing. We can rule out “demotion, loss of position, or loss of power.” Bloop.

A newby might be tempted to select “failure(s)” but that would be wrong. It’s okay to mistakes by the way. You’ll make lots of them. We all did. But it’s only a mistake if you make it once, learn from it and never make it again. It’s okay to jot down both options in your notes, then come back later and sort it out.

The key is understanding Jupiter is merely the domicile ruler of the Pisces 8th House. Jupiter indicates, not dictates. Exaltation ruler Venus is the domicile master of the Pisces 8th House and Venus dictates what happens. This is a natal chart, not an horary chart, so the 8th House is lawsuits just like it is in Jyotish. Why? Yavanajataka. That’s Sanskrit for “Greek astrology.” That’s basically the works of Nechepso and Petosirus. Jyotish is based on Greek astrology, not the Vedic hymns, or the Rig Veda or Bhagavad Gita or Bhagavad Purana. Astronomy is not astrology.
