Interpreting a Figure
Before we go any further, we want to make sure you have a handle on Left vs Right and tie in some of the concepts discussed so far. Left versus right is not mere semantics and it isn’t a matter of perspective. It’s about which star is attempting to push its nature onto another star. It is always the star on the right that is pushing its nature. The star’s ability to do that is dependent on the stars forming the figure or configuration, the signs they’re in, the houses they’re in, and other stars in aspect to them.
In Mercury right square Moon, it is Mercury pushing its nature onto Moon. In Moon right square Mercury, it is Moon attempting to push its nature onto Mercury. Remember their natures: Moon gathers or changes and Mercury argues or destabilizes.
Is there any difference between Mars right trine Moon and Moon right trine Mars?
Yes. They both mean success and the houses they rule and where they are in the chart and where the domicile ruler and domicile master are located will tell you how they achieve that success but when Mars is in a right trine to Moon, there’s no issue because Mars can handle the nature of Moon.
However, when it’s Moon right trine Mars there’s an issue because Moon can’t handle the nature of Mars.
Recall the nature of the stars. What is the nature of Mars? What does Mars do? Mars severs or separates.
So, when it’s Moon right trine Mars that success comes with a price. That person will sacrifice something.
Bob Fosse
What did Bob Fosse sacrifice?

Read the chart. After all, we are astrologers. That’s our nature. That’s what we do. We do not read planets. We do not read aspects. We do not read signs or houses. We read the chart. Because Moon squares the Cancer 6th House in the chart, Moon is both domicile ruler and domicile master of the Cancer 6th House indicating and dictating what happens concerning 6th House matters.
What is the 6th House? It is the House of Bad Luck and tells us about diseases, illnesses, accidents, injuries, hidden enemies and inferior persons.
Fosse sacrificed his health (that should be even more apparent since Sun is in the 6th House).
You may not realize you know Bob Fosse. He was an internationally renown choreographer, producer and director of hit Broadway musicals and plays. That’s a fast crowd. Work and party 39 hours a day. By the time he got to his 40’s his doctor was telling him to slow down because it was ruining his health. Fosse tapped the breaks a couple of times but that’s about all he did.
By the time he’s in his 50’s, his doctor tells him he’s dying. Fosse wrote and directed a film called All That Jazz. It’s often on Top 100 film lists. We’ve seen it. It isn’t one of our raving fav movies but it’s worth watching. It’s a semi-autobiographical account of his life. You’ll see film clips of comedian Lenny Bruce doing his skit on The 5 Stages of Grief (because Fosse is dying).
He died about 8 years after he made it at age 60.
Modern astrologers would ignore Moon right trine Mars because, you know, it is “out-of-orb” so we aren’t graced with the psycho-babbling stupidity from SolarFire. Instead we’ll give you a snippet from the moronic mental midget Modern astrologers March & McEvers regarding Moon in a sextile or trine to Mars:
“These aspects can offset debilitating health problems as they give great physical strength.”
Really? How’d that work out for Bob Fosse? He died. His Moon in a right trine to Mars caused his health problems and shortened his life.
Another Modern astrology fail.
Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris also has Moon right trine Mars. What did she sacrifice?
Read the chart.
The Cancer 2nd House is income, personal possessions, real estate, assets, investments and business partners. Moon in Aries squares the 2nd House making Moon both domicile ruler and domicile master.
That’s your answer right there.
As a government employee and later as an elected official, Harris had no power to negotiate her wages and benefits. Those are dictated by statute. About 95% of the time, people in the private sector earn way more money than those working for the government doing the same job. Who wants to be a public defender earning a little over $40,000 per year when you can be in private practice and earn $120,000 per year?
Had she been an attorney in private practice, she would easily earn three times or four times the amount depending on her field(s) of practice than an assistant prosecuting attorney or as a district attorney for the county — remember your signs. What kind of sign is Cancer? Cancer is a productive or fertile sign among things indicating more than adequate income even in the public sector. She was also under scrutiny as a public official so she did not have the freedom to invest or divest assets like ordinary civilians do.
Harris sacrificed a lucrative career and income in the private sector to be a public servant. Was the sacrifice worth it? We would be inclined to say, “yes, it was worth it for her.” For another person, such a sacrifice might not work out as well which is why we read the chart instead of knee-jerking. Anyone can jerk their knees but the fact that people can jerk their knees doesn’t make them an astrologer.
Whenever you see Moon right trine Mars in a chart, look to see what it is that person will sacrifice, and that will be those houses over which Moon is the domicile master. Soon you will learn why Moon can be domicile master of Scorpio. And Pisces. And Taurus and Virgo and Capricorn.
Can this logic be used for Moon sextile/trine Jupiter? Would the houses Moon rules explain why whatever success is attained doesn’t last?
