Here’s the Cliff’s Notes version of the history of astrology and houses.
Natal astrology evolves from mundane astrology. At about the same time natal astrology evolves, another branch of astrology concerning inceptions arises. Inceptions evolves into electional astrology and later into horary astrology. The point being these are two separate branches of astrology, each with its own unique rules, methodology and techniques.
The unique methodology of the electional/horary branch is necessary due to the nature of the charts since they are cast “in the moment” and have short life-spans. We do not cast solar return charts for electional or horary charts, right? Right.
The techniques and methods in the electional/horary branch of astrology are not applicable to natal or mundane charts and we never mix or blend methods because that does not work, it has never worked, it cannot work and it never will work for the same reason we never mix or blend methods and techniques from Jyotish astrology with Western astrology.
If you understand that then you are infinitely more intelligent than the Arab and Persian astrologers ever hoped to be since it was they who sent astrology spiraling down into a putrid dung heap.
The Arabs and Persians are not the only ones to blame. The Medieval astrologers did nothing to correct the numerous errors of the Arabs and Persians. Likewise, the Renaissance astrologer failed to correct the errors and made things worse with their false teachings that the houses represent body parts and colors. Other false teachings from the Renaissance era include the use of “natural co-significators” such as Libra being the “natural sign” of the 3rd House and Mars being the “natural ruler” of the 3rd House.
The Classical astrologers continued adding erroneous information apparently based on the planetary joy scheme and then Modern astrologers went totally off the reservation with their nonsense.
