Enclosure & Intervention

Enclosure Defined

Enclosure is another concept that applies only to the benefics (Venus and Jupiter) and the malefics (Mars and Saturn). Again, we ignore the Lights (Moon and Sun) and Mercury, although each can be the victim or the beneficiary of enclosure by benefics or malefics.

The three elements differentiating containment and enclosure are:

  1. Containment requires only one benefic or one malefic while enclosure requires either both benefics or both malefics; and
  2. Containment applies to a house while enclosure applies to a star; and
  3. Containment is not degree-based while enclosure is degree-based.

Enclosure requires the rays of both benefics or both malefics to fall within 7° before and after a star. One way to look at it is that either the benefics or the malefics are “sandbagging” a star.

Here we see Venus enclosed by the malefic rays of Mars and Saturn. It does not matter whose rays land in front of and behind Venus. In other words, if Mars and Saturn traded places Venus would still be enclosed.

Enclosure by Bodily Figure

Benito Mussolini – Malefic Enclosure

Moon at Gemini 9° enclosed by Saturn at 7° and Mars at 13°. The chart is diurnal. Moon separates from sect malefic Saturn and applies by bodily figure to Mars the malefic contrary to sect (which never ends well).

What’s your house delineation principle? Domicile ruler of the 9th House in the 8th House.

According to Modern astrology, the 9th House is: “Experiences encountered in the search for meaning, understanding, and comprehension; whatever expands the field of activities or scope of mind, long journeys; close encounters with foreign cultures, people, places; great dreams which reveal meaning of past and future collective destiny.”

What the hell is the “future collective destiny?” You’d have to be doing psychedelic drugs come up with some nonsense like that and that’s why Modern astrology is a total fail.

We’re allowed to use common sense in astrology and wisdom and learning just doesn’t apply here, but government and authority does.

Earlier we mentioned the house delineation principle “domicile ruler of the 8th House in the 1st House” means that someone is indirectly the cause of their own death and the chart of Princess Grace is a stellar example.

In this chart we have the opposite. Domicile ruler of the 1st House in the 8th House which means the person will be directly responsible for their own death. Again, astrology is not for the obtuse. We don’t knee-jerk and automatically assume that domicile ruler of the 1st House in the 8th House means someone commits suicide (although that is a distinct possibility).

The other parts of this equation are Venus in the 9th House being domicile ruler and master the Taurus 7th House and Libra 12th House co-present with Jupiter who is the domicile master of the 9th House and Jupiter is the domicile master of the Scorpio 1st House.

Cooper Hefner – Benefic Enclosure

This is an example of benefic enclosure by bodily figure.

The benevolent rays of Venus and Jupiter enclose Mercury situated in the Leo 11th House (of Good Fate). We always follow the rules of astrology. Station-checking tells us Mercury turns direct and while Venus is retrograde, on Day+7 Venus is stationary (about to turn direct). Both stars figure prominently in his chart.

Again, Mercury and Venus are neither “strong” nor “stronger.” They simply stand-out in the chart. Venus is domicile ruler and master of Libra 1st House and Taurus 8th House.

In this chart, Moon is the domicile master of the Scorpio 2nd House, the Pisces 6th House, the Cancer 10th House and the Virgo 12th House.

Domicile rulers indicate; domicile masters dictate.

Hefner inherited the Playboy Empire from his father Hugh Hefner. As you might imagine, people opposed to pornography constitute both his hidden enemies in the 6th House and his open enemies in the 12th House.

He’s also a professor teaching at university and he owns a venture capital firm that provides cash capital to new business start-ups. That would be prominent Mercury and Venus in his chart.

In case you were wondering, yes, Moon as domicile master of the Virgo 12th House counteracts the very bad placement of Sun there.

Intervention

Holly Johnson – Malefic Enclosure Blocked

Intervention occurs when any star hurls its rays to the degrees between any benefic or malefic attempting to enclose another star.

At first glance it looks like Saturn and Mars are enclosing Venus in the Capricorn 6th House.

Not so fast. See Moon at Cancer 15°? Moon hurls it’s ray to Capricorn 15°. Moon for the block. That’s called intervention. The Moon’s rays intervene between Saturn and Venus blocking Saturn.

Even so, there’s still a problem because Venus is applying to Mars.

Moon opposition Mars means what 100% of the time in 100% of charts? Constant danger.

In the charts of John Glenn and Marine Le Pen we saw Moon and Mars were in mutual reception by house-exaltation indicating he voluntarily placed himself in danger. Is there any mutual reception here? Nope.

In John Glenn’s chart, Moon-Mars were on the 2nd House/8th House axis. The 2nd House is what? The Gate to Hades. The 8th House is what? The Idle Place (meaning the House of Death). So Glenn voluntarily placed himself in danger of death.

Marine Le Penn has Mars where? In the 10th House which is career and reputation. Moon is in the 4th House which is her family, household and support base. She voluntarily placed those things in danger and she got caught which is why she’s a convicted felon for embezzlement.

In the chart above, Moon and Mars are where? On the axis of the 12th House and 6th House.

What is the name of the 12th House? The House of Bad Fate. What is the name of the 6th House? The House of Bad Luck.

You’re already 50% of the way there. Both houses are related to illness and injury. Johnson is HIV+ and he wasn’t diagnosed until the 1990’s. Venus, Mars and Saturn are in what part of their phase cycle? The rising cycle which indicates what? Early in life. He was in his 30’s when diagnosed HIV+ but he had been in danger since his late teen years.

Mutual reception for a Moon-Mars opposition can only occur when Moon is in Capricorn and Mars is in Cancer. For that figure, mutual reception indicates awareness. Someone is fully aware they are placing themselves in danger. Since there is no mutual reception Johnson was not aware of the danger.

You can never make a make a medical diagnosis using astrology. Astrology is unable to make any distinction between Swine Flu, Asiatic Flu, Avian Flu, Stupid-19, and other virus. Astrology can characterize an illness or disease as affecting the skeletal structure, musculature, nervous system, specific organs, but it cannot tell you what the illness or disease actually is.

Enclosure by Figure

Example 207 – Malefic Enclosure

Sun at Pisces 5° enclosed by the malefic rays of Saturn at Capricorn 4° whose rays fall behind Sun and Mars at Gemini 6° whose rays land in front of Sun.

The rules for enclosure by rays are simple:

  1. Only benefics or malefics can enclose
  2. The target star cannot be in the same sign as a benefic or malefic
  3. The rays from one benefic/malefic must land in front of the target star while the rays of the other benefic/malefic must land behind the target star
  4. The rays cannot be more distant than 7°
  5. Another star intervening breaks the enclosure

Her life ended badly.

Example 311-1 – Malefic Enclosure

Malefic enclosure: Venus at Capricorn 13° enclosed by Mars at Libra 10° hurling rays behind Venus and Saturn at Aries 19° hurling rays in front of Venus.

What if Saturn were at Aries 21°? Saturn’s ray would land at Capricorn 21° and no enclosure because the rays of Saturn must land within 7° to enclose Venus.

It did not end well for her, either.

Barron Hilton – Benefic Enclosure

Venus at Virgo 16° hurls rays behind Mercury at Scorpio 22° while Jupiter at Pisces 24° hurls rays in front enclosing Mercury by figure. When you follow the rules of astrology and do your station-checking you’ll see that on Day+7 Mercury turns retrograde. What does retrograde mean 100% of the time in 100% of charts no exceptions ever?

Remember the other thing we said? Well, we never said retrograde is bad 100% of the time. 90% of the time retrograde is a bad thing but there are those times when it is a good thing or even a really, really good thing. In fact, we pointed out a real-world example where a retrograde star was beneficial. A retrograde star can reject, deny, thwart or frustrate something bad which prevents it from happening or lessens the damage done. Don’t knee-jerk. Astrology is not about knee-jerking. Read the chart.

In this chart, retrograde Mercury being domicile ruler and master of the Virgo 12th House and in the 2nd House prevented Hilton from suffering severe financial losses.

Maya Angelou – Benefic Enclosure Intervened

Again, intervention occurs when the rays of any star land between the target star and the rays of the benefics or malefics.

Jupiter at Aries 16° hurls rays behind Saturn at Sagittarius 19° while Venus hurls rays from Pisces 21° landing in front of Saturn.

There’s just one problem. Mercury at Pisces 20° hurls an intervening ray between Saturn and where the rays of Venus land.

That’s most unfortunate because on Day+1 stationary Saturn goes retrograde and Saturn is the domicile ruler and master of the Aquarius 7th House.

What does retrograde mean 100% of the time in 100% of charts no exceptions ever?

If anyone hasn’t figured it out by now, they should probably find another hobby like butt-picking.

Maya’s two marriages and other sexual relationships did not go well or end well. Had Saturn been enclosed by the benefic rays of Venus and Jupiter, her relationships might have gone better and a retrograde Saturn enclosed by benefics might have even prevented divorce.

  1. Can a star hypothetically be elevated if it is let’s say the 11th Place and the master of its own house.

    • Hey, it’s Water Elemental. No, it wouldn’t. Stars are afflicted when domiciled in the 6th or 12th Houses or their dispositor is in the 6th or 12th Houses. Likewise a star is elevated or bonified if it is domiciled in the 1st or 10th Houses or its dispositor is in the 1st or 12th Houses. The dispositor will always be the domicile master or the domicile lord and not the domicile ruler.

So, Venus in Leo 11th House and Sun in the Cancer 10th House, Sun is domicile ruler of Leo but not the dispositor. Mars in the Libra 1st House as domicile lord of the Leo 11th is the actual dispositor and elevates Venus in that case.

      • I appreciate the response. I believe I saw another comment saying the same thing and I understand that the star would just be unaffected and be in good condition barring other factors.

  2. Can the ray of a star be a successful intervention if the ray is within 7 degrees of the star being enclosed, or does the ray need to be exactly between the degree of the star being enclosed and the benefic/malefic degree? For example, in example 311-1, if Jupiter were in Libra 9 degrees, it shoots a ray at Capricorn 9 degrees which is within 7 degrees of Venus. Is this a successful intervention?

    • Hello, Aaron. That’s a good question and the answer is we’re looking at the degrees of the intervening star, not it’s rays. If you take a look at Holly Johnson’s chart, you see:

      Saturn at Capricorn 13°
      Venus at Capricorn 16°
      Mars at Capricorn 19°

Maybe we need a cute catchy new name like primary ray and secondary rays because we’re looking at the degree point so it’s this:

      Saturn at Capricorn 13°
Ray of Moon from Cancer 15°
      Venus at Capricorn 16°
      Mars at Capricorn 19°

That’s the intervention. If Moon was from Cancer 0°-Cancer 12° there’s no intervention. Also if Moon were at Cancer 20° to Cancer 29° there’s no intervention.

Moon at Cancer 13° would be in exact opposition to Saturn by degree and Saturn would afflict an already afflicted Moon domiciled in the Cancer 12th House.

Moon at Cancer 19° would be in exact opposition to Mars by degree and Saturn would afflict an already afflicted Moon domiciled in the Cancer 12th House.

Moon at Cancer 16° would be very bad news. Moon would be in exact opposition to Venus by degree and Venus would elevate afflicted Moon. That negates the affliction leaving you with “normal” Moon domiciled in the Cancer 12th House. In that instance, instead of being HIV+ he’d be HIV+ with AIDS or an AIDS-related illness that would cause his death a long time ago or prevented him from continuing to perform and do other activities he enjoys.

A star in the 12th or 6th afflicted because it’s domiciled there is not always a bad thing because it can prevent bad things from happening, or mitigate the harm. But it also depends on the star. Aries Mars in the 6th House. Definitely accident prone, but nothing really bad. The chart’s for an Army guy. He was in 11 traffic accidents, 7 as passenger and 4 as driver but never injured and never at fault. He broke his ankle playing basketball on an Army team in Virginia but that was good. He worked for a 4-star and 3-star general and was always driving or flying to Washington DC with them to go to the White House or an event at a foreign embassy or something else. He couldn’t wear his dress blues so they sent him to a war college which is normally only for captains and above. Because of that, he got promoted to captain earlier. Then in Germany he was on a Chinook that crashed into the mountains (slight injuries), a Huey that crashed in the Baltic Sea (everyone waded to shore), a Huey that crashed in northern Germany (he stayed overnight at a hospital), and a Blackhawk that crash-landed in a farmer’s field in the Netherlands. The aircraft was destroyed and only one injury (not him). Then he was injured (not wounded) in Panama and injured (but not wounded) in Iraq. About 15 years later, because of his injuries in Iraq he had 3 different surgeries and then another surgery because of one of the helicopter crashes.

The reason those things happened is because both benefics were in aversion to Mars. Jupiter in the 5th and even though Venus is in the 9th there is no square because Mars leaves Aries before Venus can perfect the square aspect so there is no Mars right square Venus. If even one benefic aspected Mars he wouldn’t have had that many problems or they would have been less serious than they were.

It didn’t work out for Buddy Holly with Jupiter in the Sagittarius 12th because waning Moon was in an applying opposition to Jupiter and Moon-Jupiter are part of the Sun opposition Saturn figure, plus Mars in the Leo 8th House.

Intervention works against benefic enclosure, too. And enclosure by aspect. For Kamala Harris who has Jupiter enclosed by aspect from Mars and Saturn you have to check to make sure no other stars intervene.

      • Thank you Hunter for the thorough response.

I have Jupiter enclosed by a Mars and Saturn square on each side and was hoping that Jupiter being within 7 degrees of the Moon’s rays would intervene, but now I know that is not the case. I also have Moon domiciled in the 6th.

      • So when an aspect does not perfect, does that star have no effect om the other star that it is forming a figure to? Like if Venus doesn’t perfect a square with Mars, does her aspect to him have no effect whatsoever in any context to Mars?

  3. Does intervention prohibit any star from making further aspects to other stars? For example, let’s say we have Saturn in a right-square at 18º Scorpio and Sun 17º Aquarius. And let’s say we have Mars or Jupiter at Gemini at any degree.
Is the Sun-Mars (Or Jupiter) trine negated because of Saturn?
